General Questions

What therapy services does Mobile Therapy & Consulting offer?

We provide three core therapy disciplines: Physical Therapy (PT) for mobility, strength, balance, and pain; Occupational Therapy (OT) for daily living skills and independence; and Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) for communication, swallowing, and cognitive challenges. We serve patients of all ages, from pediatric to geriatric.

Who can receive your services?

Anyone who needs therapy services in the San Diego County area. While we specialize in serving residents at our partner senior living facilities (Lantern Crest, Grossmont Gardens, Ivy Park at Escondido, and Villa Lorena), we also welcome patients of all ages from the broader community. You do not need to be a facility resident to receive our services.

What areas do you serve?

We serve all of San Diego County, including East County (Santee, La Mesa, El Cajon, Lakeside, Alpine), North County (Escondido), and Central San Diego. Our on-site facility locations are in Santee, La Mesa, and Escondido.

Do I need a doctor's referral to start therapy?

While Medicare does not always require a physician referral, having one helps ensure smooth coverage and coordination of care. If you don't have a referral, contact us and we can help coordinate with your physician. If you're a facility resident, your nurse or care coordinator can assist with the referral process.

Insurance & Coverage

Do you accept Medicare Part B?

Yes, we are a Medicare Part B provider. Medicare Part B covers medically necessary physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology services. We handle all billing and paperwork so you can focus on your recovery.

What will therapy cost me with Medicare?

After meeting your annual Part B deductible, you typically pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount. If you have a Medigap (supplemental) policy, it may cover some or all of this 20% copay. We'll verify your specific coverage before treatment begins so there are no surprises.

Do you accept other insurance plans?

We work with most major insurance plans in addition to Medicare. Contact us with your insurance information and we'll verify your coverage and explain your benefits before you begin treatment.

Is there a limit on how many therapy sessions Medicare covers?

Medicare removed the hard therapy cap in 2018. There is no longer a strict dollar limit. Therapy is covered as long as it remains medically necessary and you are making functional progress. Your therapist documents your progress to support continued coverage.

Treatment & Process

What happens during my first therapy visit?

Your first visit is a comprehensive evaluation lasting approximately 45-60 minutes. Your therapist will assess your current abilities, discuss your goals and concerns, review your medical history, and develop a personalized treatment plan. You'll leave with a clear understanding of your therapy program and what to expect.

How often will I need therapy sessions?

Frequency varies based on your condition and goals. Most patients start with 2-3 sessions per week and gradually reduce frequency as they improve. Your therapist will recommend a schedule during your initial evaluation and adjust it as you progress.

How long does each therapy session last?

Most treatment sessions are 30-45 minutes, depending on your treatment plan and tolerance. Your therapist will ensure each session is productive without being overwhelming.

Can I receive therapy in my room at the facility?

Yes. Our therapists at partner facilities can provide treatment in your room, in common areas, or in designated therapy spaces — whatever is most comfortable and appropriate for your treatment goals.

For Facility Residents

I live at one of your partner facilities. How do I get started?

It's easy! Simply let your nurse, care coordinator, or activities director know you're interested in therapy services. They can help arrange a referral. You can also contact us directly — our team is already on-site at your community and can meet with you to discuss your needs.

I didn't know therapy was available at my facility. Is it really on-site?

Yes! Mobile Therapy & Consulting has a dedicated therapy team at Lantern Crest (Santee), Grossmont Gardens (La Mesa), Ivy Park (Escondido), and Villa Lorena. We provide services right where you live — no transportation needed. Many residents are surprised to learn we're already here.

Do I need to leave my facility for therapy appointments?

No. That's the beauty of our on-site model. Our therapists come to you at your facility. There's no need to arrange transportation, navigate traffic, or sit in waiting rooms. Therapy happens conveniently where you already live.
